Hardware Lending for Teaching

The university-wide hardware lending portal of the DL-network gives you the opportunity to borrow a wide range of technical equipment to support your teaching with media.

We will be happy to advise you personally on the didactic use of the hardware in your teaching and on all other questions. It is possible and advisable to receive instruction or training from us for each item.

We assume that you have taken note of and accepted the following general conditions for the loan.

General conditions for Hardware Lending

Service

Our “Hardware Lending” service is mainly aimed at lecturers at the Faculty of Humanities, but is also available to lecturers from other faculties. Here you can borrow a wide range of equipment for your teaching scenarios. The various media devices can be reserved online and picked up after confirmation and appointment in our office B9014 (9th floor, building section B) in the Philosophenturm.

Liability

Please note that the borrowing institution or person is liable for any loss or defect of media equipment from the DL-Office of the Faculty of Humanities.

Collection

The reserved equipment can be collected from our office during our consultation hours on the agreed loan day. The completeness of the equipment will be checked together and recorded on a loan form. You will also receive an introduction to the equipment. You are required to handle the technical equipment carefully and responsibly.

Returning the equipment

When returning the equipment on the agreed date, the completeness and integrity of the equipment will be checked again and documented. If equipment is not returned on time, we reserve the right to refuse future loans.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Who is liable in the event of damage to the devices?

The borrowing institution or person is liable for any damage to the equipment.

Is it also possible for students to borrow the items?

Yes, as long as the responsible instructors vouch for the loan and confirm this to us by e-mail before the agreed collection date, it is also possible to lend items to student groups as part of seminars, exercises and projects.

Can I use the device on a business trip/conference abroad?

Yes, but the person borrowing the equipment is liable for any loss or damage to the equipment.

Can I borrow items at short notice?

Reservations should be made as early as possible, at the latest seven working days before the planned use. An early reservation ensures the availability of the equipment. To reserve an item, please contact us using the reservation form. This is the only way we can guarantee that the equipment will be available on time.

Can I also borrow equipment for private use?

No, lending is restricted to university events and purposes so as not to compete with commercial providers.

Are rechargeable batteries included with the rental devices?

In most cases, rechargeable batteries or batteries are included if required.

What happens to my reserved equipment if I don't collect it?

Please inform us as early as possible or on the day of collection by e-mail if you are going to miss an appointment. You then have the option of arranging a new collection date. In principle, however, a reservation is binding.
