On the trail of Hamburg's colonial heritage
Hamburg has a colonial past and is now taking a new approach to dealing with its colonial heritage. Where the former Colonial Institute used to provide training for overseas service, the team at the research centre “Hamburg’s (post-)colonial legacy” has developed an app that makes Hamburg's colonial history accessible via smartphone.

Excellence in Schools
“Excellence in Schools” is a hands-on program for students that provides insights into the interdisciplinary diversity of methods and approaches in the study of written artefacts. Using specific research questions, it shows how different disciplines can work together and benefit from each other.

In the name of freedom
The stories of people who fled the GDR have hardly been visible in Hamburg until now, and there has been a lack of knowledge about places that remind people of their arrival. As part of the project, contemporary witnesses described their personal experiences, which can now be experienced as an audio walk and a traveling exhibition.

Academy of World Religions: Dialogue in the city
The Academy of World Religions promotes interreligious dialog in research and teaching as well as in society in cooperation with the religious communities through local and international symposia, lecture series and events in the cultural-artistic field.

Collective responsibility. Racism(criticism) at universities
Racism (criticism) is a central field of action in the debate on diversity in the university context. Since 2021, the joint project of the Head Office for Academic Affairs and the Faculty's Equal Opportunities Officer has been creating space for addressing institutional racism at universities through various event formats.
