International Affairs
Internationalization at the faculty
The Faculty of Humanities sees internationalization, within the scope of the University’s internationalization strategy, as a task that cuts across research, teaching, and education generally. This is why we support the world-wide activities of teachers, researchers, students, and guests through various measures and funding programs. The faculty is beholden to the University’s areas of activity and uses the measures set forth by Internationalisierung@home. It aims to promote international and intercultural skills in an international environment. The vice dean’s office for international affairs advises members of the faculty in matters related to internationalization and provides information about current measures and University funding programs in close cooperation with the Department of International Affairs.
Student mobility (Erasmus+)
The Faculty of Humanities advocates for students to study and research abroad while pursuing their bachelor’s and master’s degrees and doctorates. This is why the faculty has 5 international, English-language master’s programs and mandatory stays abroad in many of their degree programs. Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in the faculty should, for example, be able to do a stay at an Erasmus partner university, learn more about different teaching and studying formats, understand new (academic) languages, methods, and theories, and strengthen their intercultural academic profiles.
The Erasmus office provides support and advice to teaching staff and students in the Faculty of Humanities, especially visiting students, on questions and organizational matters related to their stay at Universität Hamburg as well as students in the faculty who wish to go abroad to one of our partner universities.
International cooperations
Would you like to formalize cooperation with an international university? Do you have a partner university in mind or would you like to know if Universität Hamburg already has an agreement with a particular university. The Strategy and University Partnerships Unit in Dept. 5 can advise you on the possibilities of concluding cooperation agreements with international universities.
Except for strategic university partnerships, cooperation agreements are concluded at faculty level. Within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), you and your partner define the intention and framework conditions of the cooperation. Faculty agreements are signed by the Dean of the Faculty after a content and legal review coordinated by the Strategy and University Partnerships Unit. All information and a roadmap for a cooperation agreement can be found here.
