Mission statement
The Faculty of Humanities is committed to equality, diversity, and anti-discrimination in terms of both content and structure, and considers these to be central cross-cutting issues that are incorporated into all planning and strategy processes. Diversity is one of the drivers for the further development of academic culture on the path to a sustainable university. Therefore, in the spirit of sustainability, the Faculty is continuously working to create an academic culture based on the principles of diversity and justice.
The goal of equality work at the Faculty of Humanities is to design structures, processes, and interactions at the Faculty in a way that is gender- and diversity-sensitive. Such structural and cultural change encompasses measures at the structural level and a commitment to diversity-sensitive teaching, research, and committee work, as well as efforts to promote a culture of openness and inclusion in times of increasing polarization and to encourage critical discussion of socially relevant topics from different humanities perspectives. This also includes actively combating discrimination and promoting a democratic culture of debate against anti-feminism, racism, anti-Semitism, right-wing populism, and other forms of exclusion.
