The Equal Opportunities Officer (gender equality, diversity, work-life balance) at the Faculty of Humanities plays a key role in promoting equal opportunities in academic structures. Her specific tasks include:
- Participation in personnel decisions: She is involved in all staffing plans and job advertisements for academic staff to ensure fair selection.
- Right to inspect application documents: In appointment and recruitment procedures, she has the right to inspect all application documents.
- Participation in appointment procedures: Her involvement is mandatory in all phases of the procedure for filling professorships and junior professorships.
- Active participation in committees: She has the right to information, to speak, and to submit motions in all relevant faculty committees and commissions.
- Right of objection: The representative can object to decisions made without her consent to ensure that they are reviewed again.
- Right of appeal: The representative may appeal against decisions made without her consent in order to ensure that they are reviewed.
- Promotion of transparency: She contributes to the creation of transparency and promotes the inclusion of gender equality aspects in all decision-making processes.
The Equal Opportunities Team, consisting of the Equal Opportunities Officer and the Equal Opportunities Advisor for the Faculty of Humanities, also advises students and academic staff of the faculty on all issues related to equal opportunities and anti-discrimination:
- Advice on equal opportunities, gender, and diversity: The Equal Opportunities Officer and the Equal Opportunities Advisor advise students and academic staff at the faculty on faculty- and university-wide funding opportunities and support services in the areas of gender equality, diversity, and work-life balance.
- Initial and referral counseling in cases of discrimination, harassment, and abuse of power: They provide impartial and confidential counseling to students and academic staff at the faculty and, if necessary, refer them to other counseling centers within and outside the UHH.
Through these comprehensive tasks, the equality team contributes significantly to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity at the Faculty of Humanities.
