Thought and Religions
The “Thought and Religions” profile initiative is led by the Faculty of Humanities. Established in recent years, this research area deals with European and non-European worldviews (religions, cultures, philosophies, systems of thought, languages). The profile initiative includes the disciplines of Buddhist studies, Islamic studies, and Jewish philosophy and religion. The numerous research projects of varying sizes within this research area deal predominantly with Jewish ideologies in Christian and Islamic cultural environments (particularly scepticism), medicine and bio-ethics in Islam, moral literature in Judaism, as well as the formation and development of philosophical and scientific Hebrew terminology in its various historical and cultural contexts.
