The emerging field explores how we make decisions and which norms guide us in a democracy. It combines disciplines such as philosophy, political science and economics in order to develop innovative approaches to shaping institutional structures.

The profile initiative bundles activities for research into linguistic diversity, including historical, social, cultural and cognitive varieties, as well as multilingualism through migration.

Modeling Nature
The profile initiative examines current debates on concepts of nature in order to enrich them with analyses of global social and artistic practices. The aim is to think nature beyond traditional dualisms and to place it in cultural, scientific, technical and social contexts.

The profile initiative researches European and non-European ideologies, including religions, cultures and philosophies. The focus is on Jewish intellectual currents, Islamic medicine and bioethics as well as the development of Hebrew philosophical and scientific terminology.
