New Professor for Intercultural Theology and Religious Studies: Stefanie Burkhardt

Since March 1, 2026, Stefanie Burkhardt has held an junior professorship for Intercultural Theology and Religious Studies in the Department of Protestant Theology.
After completing a BA in Religious Studies and German Language and Literature in Potsdam and Erlangen-Nuremberg and an MA in the elite program Ethics of Text Cultures in Erlangen-Nuremberg, Stefanie Burkhardt received her doctorate in Religious Studies in 2022 with a thesis entitled Religion Erzählen. Mircea Eliade's religious and literary double work. She had been working as a research assistant at the Chair of Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology there since 2016. From April 2023 to September 2024, she participated as a coordinator and postdoctoral researcher with her own project in the DFG research group Erlangen Alternative Rationalities and Esoteric Practices in a Global Perspective (CAS-E) and most recently worked as a research assistant at the University of Münster.
