At the start of the summer semester 2025, the Vice Dean for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Dr. Christoph Dartmann, addresses the faculty's teaching staff with two topics that will keep us busy in the coming weeks and wishes everyone a good start to the new semester.

Firstly, new versions of the faculty examination regulations for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs will be drawn up in the summer semester of 2025. The current examination regulations date back to 2013 and 2015 and have been amended several times since then. The Head Office for Academic Affairs will work on the new versions together with the relevant faculty committees and incorporate possible needs of the departments for changed didactic concepts for teaching and examinations into the new versions. Particular attention will be paid to the use of Large Language Models and gKI. We invite you as lecturers to initiate discussion processes in your teaching units that deal with the effects of technological developments on teaching. The UHH's Orientation Framework for Using Generative Artificial Intelligence System in Studies and Teaching also offers support here.
Secondly, the summer semester begins with a new offer in the Studium Generale curricular area: as part of the new Crossdisciplinary Learning (CDL) program, Bachelor's students can choose from over 650 courses from the entire range of subjects at UHH. Our Bachelor's students thus benefit from a much richer and more diverse range of courses than before for their individual specialization. For lecturers, this means that in future students from all faculties will be able to attend your courses. Take advantage of the opportunities offered by the new Hub for Crossdisciplinary Learning (HCDL) to develop innovative teaching formats and projects. You can also send conceptual suggestions and questions about the CDL directly to the UHH Central Coordination Office at cdl"AT"uni-hamburg.de.
The Head Office for Academic Affairs wishes everyone a successful summer semester 2025!
