Manage long-term projects with the knowledge management tool Logseq
1 August 2024, by DL-Büro GW
We recommend the free open source software Logseq for the lecture-free period, which can be used to work on your own projects.
With this software, you can collect information such as texts, links, audios and videos in a network and easily find them again at a later date. Logseq therefore facilitates your own research, term papers, theses and long-term projects.
In addition to simple notes in Logseq, you can also integrate PDFs and make markings and comment on sections directly in the PDFs. A combination of Logseq and Zotero is also possible. With the "Plug-In Media Timestamp" plug-in, you can annotate embedded Lecture2Go videos with a practical timestamp. An index card function is built into Logseq for the repetition of content. You can also manage your own tasks directly in Logseq.
A short tutorial, which is displayed when you first open the program, makes it easier to get started with Logseq. You can access help later by clicking on the question mark at the bottom right. A particularly positive feature is the local data storage on your own device. Synchronization, e.g. with the UHHCloud as a data backup, is also possible.
In the HUL - Short Sessions HUL – Short Sessions “Effizienter lehren und lernen: Zeit sparen mit dem Wissensmanagementtool Logseq“ am Di, 03.09.2024, 09:00 Uhr bis 10:00 Uhr you will get a first insight into the tool and the possibilities of using it for teaching and learning.
Alternatives to Logseq are Obsidian and Zettlr. Please note that Logseq as well as Obsidian and Zettlr are external tools.
We would also like to recommend the new "Projects" function of OpenOLAT, which is a simple UHH alternative for knowledge management of research and theses for your students. You can find out more about projects and how you can incorporate them into your teaching in our "OpenOlat-Rundgang".
