New Professor of Systematic Theology: Prof. Dr. Hartmut von Sass

Prof. Dr. Hartmut von Sass is the new Professor of Protestant Theology: Systematic Theology at the Department of Protestant Theology since April 1, 2025.
Hartmut von Sass completed his double degree in 2005 with a diploma in Protestant theology and in 2006 with a Master of Arts in philosophy at the HU Berlin. In 2009, he completed his doctorate in Systematic Theology / Philosophy of Religion with the thesis “Sprachspiele des Glaubens” at the University of Zurich, where he habilitated in 2012 with the thesis “Gott als Ereignis des Seins. Versuch einer hermeneutischen Onto-Theologie”. After holding several academic and leadership positions as well as fellowships in the USA, he has been Titular Professor of Systematic Theology and Philosophy of Religion at the University of Zurich since 2019 and has held a Heisenberg position at HU Berlin since 2020.
