Learning digital flashcards with Anki
1 June 2023, by eBüroGW-Team
Anki is an intelligent learning software based on the principle of active repetition and spaced repetition. The programme uses special algorithms to present you with cards at optimal intervals. This means that you have to repeat cards that you master easily less often, while more difficult cards are repeated more frequently. In this way, Anki constantly optimises your learning process and ensures that you consolidate your knowledge in the long term.
With Anki, you can create your learning content in the form of digital flashcards. Whether you want to learn a new language, prepare for exams, build up expertise or simply improve your memory, Anki is a powerful tool that can be customised to suit individual needs. You can create cards with vocabulary, grammar rules, formulas, historical data, facts, quotes and much more. The programme also allows you to insert multimedia elements such as images, audio files and videos with html formatting to make learning more vivid. You also have the option of tracking your individual learning progress and viewing statistics about your performance. This allows you to optimise your learning time, specifically identify weak points and achieve your learning goals more effectively.
Furthermore, there is a large pool of multi-faceted Anki stacks that are made available for download by other members of the entire community.
The open source tool is not provided directly at our university, but it is free to use for most platforms (e.g. Windows, macOS, Android), only the mobile iOS app is chargeable.
