Collaborative Working
1 August 2022, by eBüroGW-Team
Working together on documents has become more and more important in the last two years and therefore we present here three different ways on how this works on the platforms of the University of Hamburg.
On AGORA, the real-time editor "Etherpad" can be used for collaborative work. The authors are assigned different colours when they type. This makes it easy to distinguish the contributions from each other. There is also a chat function and the possibility to access the version history. Etherpad can be activated optionally and is only available in the material rubric.
For more information about the Etherpad, you can find a tutorial on our website.
OnlyOffice is available on the OpenOlat platform for collaborative work. This is a document editor that allows several people to work synchronously on one document, chat or comment. With OnlyOffice, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be created and edited. OpenDocument files can also be created. The editor is available in the course in the rubrics "Document", "Folder", "Groups", " Group Task" and "Task".
For further information on OnlyOffice, you will find a help card in german on the pages of the eLearning portal
If you prefer to work platform-independently, HedgeDoc, also called UHH-Pad, is a good choice. This is an online editor that can be used very intuitively. It can be used for plain text entry, but can also be used in a more complex way through Markdown. It is also possible to integrate external Markdown resources. The default setting is a double window, but a presentation mode can be selected and it is also possible to publish. This editor can also be incorporated into an OpenOlat course.
For more information on HedgeDoc/UHH-Pad, please see the article (in german) on OpenOlat in the "Treffpunkt" of the Faculty of Humanities (https://www.openolat.uni-hamburg.de/auth/RepositoryEntry/121700966/CourseNode/102475018985400).
Likewise, you can also find a contribution on our website about this tool.
