Generative artificial intelligence (gAI), in the form of chatbot systems for instance, has become an integral part of the world. Especially due to the low-threshold access and easy usage, KI- systems such as ChatGPT, reach the mass. There are also new approaches to teaching and learning in the areas of higher education didactics. Responsible use of artificial intelligence is possible!
Universität Hamburg’s orientation framework for dealing with GAI is aimed at faculties, departments, and subjects.

With ‘UHHGPT’, the University of Hamburg provides free access to ChatGPT without saving prompts or personal data.
Up-to-date information on the use of generative AI at the university can be found on the HUL and DDLitLab theme pages.

The series of discussions with experts from the University of Hamburg in the field of generative AI is available as a podcast and short videos. The discussions shed light on the topic of generative AI from different research perspectives and fields of work.
This publication presents the descriptive statistical analyses of the second round of a survey on generative AI conducted at the University of Hamburg in July 2024. In addition to current data, the publication includes comparisons with last year's figures, an update on comparable surveys in Germany, and explanatory texts on topics relevant to gAI.
In a basic text on ChatGPT in the context of university teaching, the HUL focuses on the didactic perspective. There is also a video providing an overview and additional information.
Generative artificial intelligence (gAI) can influence university teaching in many ways. The template based on the HUL teaching path for designing courses related to gAI offers approaches for reflection in order to further develop existing teaching or to design and implement new courses.
In the Lecture2Go series, lecturers from various faculties present the use of generative AI tools in their courses. Together, they explore questions such as how and for what purposes AI is already being used in different disciplines. How does it work in practice, and what can others learn from it?
