Karl H. Ditze Prize
The Karl H. Ditze Prize, which has been awarded since 2001, honors outstanding theses and dissertations from the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Education at the Universität Hamburg. At the same time, its special feature within the Hamburg university landscape is honored: the unique diversity of the humanities.
The Karl H. Ditze Foundation has been supporting Hamburg's universities since 1990. A particular concern of the founder and the foundation was the promotion of talented young academics.
Call for applications for the Karl H. Ditze Prize
- Target group: Graduates and doctoral students of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Education
- Prize: EUR 2,000 for a thesis, EUR 3,000 for a dissertation
- Application: Application is only possible by nomination (no self-application). All professors of the respective faculty are eligible to nominate candidates.
The following conditions apply to the selection procedure:
- The candidate must not be older than 35 years.
- The examination procedures of the proposed work must have been completed in accordance with the Foundation's procedural guidelines in the period between the last selection round at the respective faculties and the date of the current call for proposals, i.e. the grading procedures must have been completed by then (see procedure for awarding the Karl H. - The prize proposals should be determined by a suitable committee in the respective department of the Faculty of Humanities or the Faculty of Education, e.g. by the Graduate Funding Committee.
- Two departments per year are invited to submit their proposals in rotation.
