Using funds from the Karl H. Ditze Foundation, the Faculty of Humanities awards one-time mobility grants for semesters abroad or other study-related stays abroad, as well as grants to support the exam period. The application deadline is June 24, 2026.
A semester or stay abroad within the EU is subsidized with a one-time grant of 600 EUR, and a stay outside the EU with a one-time grant of 1,200 EUR (in each case for accommodation costs). A one-time grant of 1,000 EUR is available for completing a bachelor’s degree, and 1,500 EUR for a master’s degree (or the Church Examination, Magister, and Diploma in Protestant Theology). Only students in the Faculty of Humanities (major or teaching subject) are eligible for funding. The age limit is 35 years. Funding for doctoral projects is excluded.
Requirements for receiving funding include outstanding academic performance and examination results achieved within the standard period of study, as well as a letter of recommendation from a supervising faculty member in the Faculty of Humanities attesting to the particular merit of the proposed study abroad project or thesis. Mobility grants and graduation grants can only be awarded alternatively, not cumulatively.
The application deadline is June 24, 2026. For further inquiries, please contact Dean’s Office Assistant Nicole Nitschke at dekanatsref.gw"AT"uni-hamburg.de.
